sky the beginning, not the limit for amy spicer
Today, we’re celebrating World Pilots Day, soaring high with an extraordinary story from Western Australia featuring Amy Spicer, an 11-year-old student pilot from Perth who’s breaking barriers and inspiring future generations to reach for the skies!
From the moment she witnessed planes crisscrossing the flight paths to Brisbane, Amy knew the sky was her playground. Her curiosity about aviation blossomed into a passionate journey, fuelled by the stories of pioneering women aviators who proved that the sky has no limits.
Amy’s dream? To become an aero-med pilot, merging her love for flying with the noble cause of saving lives. But that's not all – she’s also the founder of ‘Girls Can Fly Anything’, a platform showcasing the achievements of female pilots and encouraging more girls to join the aviation industry. Because, in Amy's words, “You can't be what you can't see”.
Amy was among the first to reach out to us, sharing her excitement for the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast and its potential to unlock STEM opportunities for young enthusiasts, demonstrating her commitment to inspiring her peers in aviation and beyond.
Let’s celebrate Amy’s spirit and the countless women and girls who are setting their sights high. Whether you're dreaming of becoming a pilot, engineer or any role within the aviation industry, including the Royal Australian Air Force, remember Amy’s message - the sky’s the beginning, not the limit.
To all the young aviators out there, especially the girls, let Amy’s journey remind you that your dreams have wings. And to everyone who’s ever looked up at the sky and felt that pull – today is a perfect day to start your own journey.
