The Southern Knights are Australia’s premier civilian warbird formation aerobatic team. Formed in 1997, the four-aircraft display team performs precision formation aerobatics using vintage World War II-era training aircraft.

The team operates the North American Aviation T-6 Texan and Harvard advanced trainer aircraft, which were widely used during World War II and the 1950s to train thousands of Commonwealth and United States military pilots. The aircraft is often referred to as “the pilot-maker” due to its historical role in advanced pilot training.

Each aircraft is powered by a 600 horsepower Pratt & Whitney radial engine, producing a distinctive radial sound that is characteristic of the type and contributes significantly to the visual and auditory impact of the display.
